Did Criticism Ever Change Your Mind?

Can you remember a time where someone’s criticism changed your mind about something?

Me neither.

Human nature tends to protect and resist against unsolicited criticism.

It creates stress and tension in the relationship and around the issue at hand that makes it less likely to improve.

If we want to see change or improvement in something, our best approach is modelling.

How would you want your child to behave when they’re running thin and emotional?  Model it when your feeling that way.

How would you want to be apologized to?  how would you want a family member to

behave when exhausted?  How do you want an colleague to behave when late?

Whatever your response to questions like that, consider how you could model it.

Demonstrate it in your own life, because you’re probably getting tired of the feeling you get when you’re criticizing.
